GIB arranges cover for the Jerusalema Challenge

In light of the severely devastating effects that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on South Africa and the rest of the world, there has not been a better time to spread the message of positivity, inspiration and motivation. And we at GIB could not think of a better way than with the Jerusalema Project, a dance challenge based on the hit song by Master KG ft Nomcebo, that has taken the nation by storm and reached a high on Heritage Day (24 September 2020) in South Africa.

GIB’s Film and Entertainment division had the pleasure of arranging cover for the Jerusalema Project that was filmed entirely at the Cape Town Film Studios at their backlots and stages on 24 September 2020. This project represented the entire film industry as a whole coming together to create the greatest attempt of the #JerusalemaChallenge, which will be viewed by millions globally.

All personnel involved in this project operated completely free of charge, as well as all equipment was supplied free of charge. Vehicles were sponsored by Value Logistics, equipment by Panavision, and the personnel , location, blackslots and stages were provided by the efforts of Cape Town Film studios.

The purpose of this project was to welcome the return of the film industry. During the Coronavirus pandemic, the film and entertainment industry had sat in a particularly dormant state merely waiting for a change of sorts. Freelancers, set designers, suppliers, stage managers and countless others in this industry were left crippled economically by the virus’s effects on the world.

By no means is the pandemic over however, this project will greatly assist the film and entertainment industry by showcasing that they are back in business and ready to do what they do best. This has been an exciting project for GIB to be a part of, and we are proud of all the effort made by the GIB Film and Entertainment team. A special thanks to Panavision, Value Logistics, Cape Town Film studios, and all other supporting service providers. Their brilliant work is likely to assist many out of work film industry professionals as well as inspire and entertain millions more.
