• 1983 - GIB became a FIA (formerly SAFSIA) Member
• 1986 - GIB became a Tribunalised Broker at Lloyds
• 1987 - GIB established a specialist Marine Insurance Broking Company
• 1990 - GIB formed a specialist Mining, Engineering and Construction Insurance Broking Company
• 1992 - GIB established a Life and Investments Consultancy
• 1993 - GIB formed a specialist Aviation Insurance Broking Company
• 1996 - GIB entered the Agricultural Insurance Market with major successes
• 1997 - GIB was appointed as South Africa's representative for the AssurexGlobal Group
• 1998 - GIB formed a specialist Employee Benefits and Medical Aid Broking Company
• 1999 - GIB obtained a 13B Pension Fund Administration License
• 2000 - GIB established the Destiny Umbrella Provident Fund
• 2001 - GIB moved to its new corporate Headquarters in Houghton, Johannesburg
• 2002 - GIB acquired Thompson Credit Insurance Consulting, a Specialist Credit and Political Risk Broking Company
• 2004 - GIB Kwa-Zulu Natal was acquired
• 2006 - GIB Reinsurance Administration Company, Sandhill, was established
• 2007 - GIB acquired a shareholding in AssurexGlobal
• 2009 - GIB formed GIB Dinaledi a Specialist TV Film and Media Division
• 2011 - Lephatsi, a BBBEE Company acquired a 30% shareholding in the GIB Group
